Do you love all things beer and food that say Fall? Do you love dogs? If so, we have just the event for you!
This Saturday, September 30th, head to Yards Park to take part in the 6th annual festival, Wiener 500. The festival kicks off at 1p.m and ends at 5p.m. Entry to the street festival is free. However, the food and drinks will cost money.
Yards Park will be transformed into a quasi-German town during Oktoberfest! Throughout the festival, you’ll be able to enjoy a cold beer at bars featuring Sam Adams Lager, Oktoberfest, and other seasonal beers. You can also enter The Sam Adams Stein Hoisting Competition, which will be held at 3:30 that day. Also, you’ll want to make sure you eat while enjoying all the seasonal beer on tap! Luckily for you, many of your favorite D.C. food trucks will be on site with Oktoberfest themed food!
If you do decide to spend your Saturday at Yards Park for Weiner 500, make sure you come with your dog! The best and main part of Weiner 500 is the attention it brings to helping dogs in our community! Prior to the kick-off of Weiner 500, participate in the DC Walk for Animals! The walk is to benefit the Humane Rescue Alliance. After the walk, join up with everyone with your dog at the Wiener 500 for a chance to meet with the Humane Rescue Alliance and a chance to adopt a dog. Also, costumes on your dogs are very much encouraged as there will be a costume contest held at the event.
This is clearly not the event to leave your pup or your lederhosen at home!
