If you’ve never been to Magruder’s, you’re in for a treat. It’s your one-stop-shop for all the essentials and it’s actually quite historic. The oldest bodega in the D.C. area, it was founded by Commodore John Magruder, the store’s namesake, all the way back in 1875. Since then there have been a lot of changes, but they always remain committed to their customers and providing only the best products. In present-day, they’re an eclectic mix of liquor store, fresh market, and deli. What more could you need?
If you don’t feel like leaving your place, you can even shop the market online. Their easy-to-use website allows you to virtually browse the aisles, from the bakery to the champagne section, you can grab everything you need and select pick-up at the store, or local delivery. This doesn’t apply to produce or deli, but if you’re not in need of those staples at the moment, it works perfectly. Give it a shot!
