There are tons of great outdoor spaces in and around DC, but with the breadth of options at Rock Creek Park, it could be the only spot you visit for months on end.
Measuring in at 1,754 acres, Rock Creek Park has everything, from historical structures, hiking trails, and horseback riding to golfing, tennis, boating, and biking—the list goes on. There are opportunities to volunteer, ranger-led programs, summer concerts, and more.
Even with certain areas of the park closed (like the Nature Center and Pierce Mill and Barn) due to concerns over the pandemic, there is still plenty to see and do on each and every visit. Gather up family or friends for a socially distanced picnic in the groves, or take advantage of the exercise facilities to work on your fitness away from your Chevy Chase apartment.
